Hi Guys,

I am landing in bangkok on November 2nd and departing Singapore on December 12th (so roughly 6 weeks)

Initially we are looking to travel north of Bangkok to Chang Mai to go Jungle Trekking then head back down through bangkok and down the coast to Phuket.

I am then looking at travelling through Penang and Kuala Lumpa and down to Singapore.

Does this route seem logical? And would we be ok without visas? (i did read the post regarding Thailand and Visas although was confused as to the 30/60 day rule)

Any help much appreciated!

Carl,
Your route and time allowed seem perfect. You will receive a free, 30 day entry permit when landing at Suvarnabhumi. I suggest you use your full 30 days in Thailand, cross into Malaysia on the last day stamped into your passport. Malaysia will give you a free 90 day tourist visa on arrival. A week or so in Malaysia, down to Singapore 3-4 days before your flight out. Singapore will also give you a free 30 day entry permit.

I suggest you spend your beach time in the Krabi area rather than in Phuket. Phuket is more expensive and has bigger crowds than many of the beaches/islands close to Krabi. Good luck with your planning.
