Thailand in February/March 2010, HELP?

I am planning a trip to Thailand around fabruary/March 2010 have some questions..
Right now the plan is to stay somewhere between 4-6 weeks, but I could stay longer too.
How much time would I need to see Thailand, and if I would like to see a bit of Laos and Cambodia too?
How much money will i need on a weekly basis?
Are there anyone else travelling to Thailand at this time? I am travelling by myself and would like to have someone to share the fun with
And what are the must see places in Thailand?

My uncle lives in Pattaya so I will probably go straight there when I arrive (probably in Bankok) and stay there for a week. I will also have to stop by Pattaya before i leve to pick up some of the things I don't bring on my Thailand trip.

My favourite places in Thailand are Koh Pha Ngan and Koh Phi Phi, but I also liked Kanchanaburi (where the Bridge Over The River Kwai, Death Railway and Jeath War Museum are) and trekking in Chiang Mai. I stopped a couple of days in Kanchanaburi, but you can also do it on a day trip from Bangkok if you're short for time. In Chiang Mai I'd recommend doing a 3 day/2 nights trek where you get to visit two villages and also go rafting and do an elephant trek, but again if you're short of time then shorter treks are available.

Down South, Koh Phi Phi and Koh Pha Ngan are my favourite islands. Both are great for partying, but also have nice beaches. If you're travelling on your own then I'd recommend staying at a place called The Rock on Koh Phi Phi. It's a really sociable hostel which is excellent for meeting other backpackers.

For money I generally spend about £500 per month while in Thailand, but I don't do a lot of travelling (I generally spend most of my time in Koh Pha Ngan and Koh Phi Phi nowadays), and also if you're planning on going out drinking a lot then that will add to your budget.

Finally, whatever plans you make I would try to allow for flexibility in your itinerary, as you will probably visit places along the way that you love and want to stay longer.

Just one more thing as well - you've definitely picked the best time of year to visit Thailand for the weather. During my last couple of years in Thailand I've been in Koh Pha Ngan during February and I think it rained for about ten minutes throughout the entire month. March isn't quite as dry, but it's still generally good weather.

If you stay in Pattaya . You should go Koh Samed or Koh Chang because it's not much far from pattaya.

For my recommend money in Thailand 300$ for 1 month.

- Water 0.4-1$
- Hotels 10$-100$/night

Popular place ( price of food and hotels)
Expensive area is Phuket , PhiPhi , Samui
Normal Area is Koh Chang , Koh Samed ,Pattaya
Cheap Area is Bangkok , Chiangmmai

Sorry, tripsthai but $300 per month to travel in Thailand is completely unrealistic - Emmett70 is about right with the £500 per month mark...and more if you want to travel around a lot or drink lots of beer!

Hey If you stay in Pattaya...Don't miss Kho Lan...very very beautiful beach.

And for other place that very interesting.. Chaing Mai, Pai - Very beautiful in Jan and Feb.
