Need help for Hamburg - Amsterdam - Paris

I am from Singapore going to Hamburg for training. After training in Hamburg, planning to go to Amsterdam and to Paris for about 7-10 days.

Please advise what is the best way and cheap to travel from Hamburg to Amsterdam and from Amsterdam to Paris.

Please advise how many days should I stay in Amsterdam and in Paris and where do you propose the places that i must visit.

Train in both cases.

• Hamburg - Amsterdam can be done by ICE with a change of trains in Duisburg and maybe also Hannover. Prices start at €39 (Europa-Spezial)
• Amsterdam - Paris can be done by Thalys. Prices start €25 one-way

I think the best way to travel is by train. I think there is a train between Hamburg and Amsterdam and for sure there is a train from Holland to Paris. Last year I went with the train from Rotterdam to Paris, an ideal way to travel because it does n´t take that long. Book the train in advance, then you know how much it cost.

The train that you have to take is called the thalys.

If I were you I should go for like 3 days to Amsterdam and the other 7 days to Paris.
Amsterdam is very nice but I think you have to see more in Paris so that takes longer.

In Amsterdam is nice to visit the Anne-frank house, madame tussauds, go with a sightseeing boat, see the Jordaan (typical amsterdamse neighborhood), Albert Cuijp market, Vondelpark and the many terraces on the squares (Rembrandtplein and Leidscheplein) in Amsterdam.

In Paris of course to see things like the Eiffel Tower, Louvre, Notre Dame, Arc de Triomphe, maybe also take a boat on the big river.

Go for 10 days and stay 4 days in Amsterdam and 6 days in Paris.

How to get from Hamburg to Amsterdam on the cheap:

Go to www.bahn.de and look for connections to Amsterdam. See if you can get the special offer for 39 or 49 EUR.

If you don't see the special and only the normal price, change your search: Tick the box "only local transport" and look for trains that go via Bad Bentheim or Nieuweschans. (The trains do not have to stop in these places, they just need to go through those villages.) If you travel from Monday to Friday make sure the departure time from Hamburg is after 9 am.

The trick is a special ticket, the Niedersachsen-Ticket Single. If you use it it costs about 20 EUR to get from Hamburg to the German-Dutch border and then it will be another 25-30 EUR to get from the border to Amsterdam.

You can buy both tickets at the counter in Hamburg. Give them the following message (print out):

Ich möchte mit Niedersachsen-Ticket Single an die niederländische Grenze und dann eine Anschlussfahrkarte nach Amsterdam. Bitte verkaufen Sie mir beide Fahrkarten und drucken mir die Verbindung aus. Ich möchte am (enter date) um (enter time) Uhr fahren.
