I am planning to visit Norway during the last week of October. My friend booked a package for us so the itinerary, accommodation, and transportation are quite all set already. Just one last thing I am wondering about is the weather.

What will the weather be like? Should I be prepare for the real winter for that time of the year or it's just the last part of falls there during late Oct?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hello there. I have been to Norway many times in all four seasons. At the end of October it is possible that you will get some snow but not guaranteed. It will be quite cold at night and may dip down to below freezing.
It certainly wont be the weather for shorts and a tshirt. I was in Norway a few years ago in April and it was in the 80s. It has very contrasting weather and can turn quite quickly. If you are down near Oslo it wont be as cold as further north. Still take a nice warm coat with you though wherever you are going too. It is a beautiful country Norway but quite expensive.

BedouinLeo,

I am not quiet use to cold weather.

Hi. I am Norwegian so should be able to give you a good answer

The answer depends of course on which part of the country you are visting. My reply is gonna assume that you will be on the west coast or around Oslo (south of Trondheim)

You can expect temperaturs between 0 and 10 degrees celcius, colder during the nights/evening. October is a month of frequent rain and winy conditions, but will also give you some awesome clear autumn days. Only on rare occasions do we get snow or temperatures below 0 degrees in october. If you have planned a lot of outdoors sightseeing on the west coast I would also bring a full set of light rainclothes (wind and rain = umbrella no good at all)

Recommended clothing for sightseeing / city walking: Jeans, woolen/fleece sweater, shell jacet (wind and waterproof goretex jacket) - bring gloves and a good outdoors headwear (can easily be bought in Norway upon arrival)

have a nice stay!

One thing you can be assured of in Norway regardless of the climate is FUN. It is such a friendly country with so lovely people. Do try spend a bit of time in either Oslo or Bergen (out of the two I prefer Bergen). Such lovely places.
