I am going to Rio in 3 weeks time and i am planning on booking a hostel for the first 3 nights. I have been looking at the hostels on this site under the accommodation section.... They all have good comments and claim that they are the best there is.
I was just wondering if anyone has stayed in any of the hostels on this site and if they could recommend a good one to me - and warn me off any of the bad ones too!! I want to get one with airport pickup as and i wouldnt mind having a private room for the first few nights just to get used to the idea of what i am acually doing!
getting super nervous now!
Cheers for your help people.... Meg
i don't know hostels but i have been at Arpador in in ipanema that it's quite expensive 50 usd but it's i areally good position between ipanema and copacabana
Im thinkin the same thing.Im gettin in to Rio on the 2/dec.Been toying with the idea of getting a "hotel" for a coupla nights to ease into it too,but havent decided, plenty of time eh?Theres one called Sao Franciscao or somethin that seems cheapish but its right in centro.
Hostel wise i think im gonna hop between a few, from the one in Santa Teresa 1st,then a Carioca friend told me one in Botafogo is v good,im guessing thats the Carioca Easy Hostel. And theres a few others, but guess ill stop when i find a goodun.
Oh well, gonna email my friend for more advice, let you know if i come up with anything
I stayed at the Che Lagarto in Copacabana about a year and a half ago. we went out with the people working there all the time. very fun group. i think theyve built a bar since then, but it was pretty reasonable (dont know about now). If you plan on staying a while, try to get a deal.
YOU HAVE TO, HAVE TO, HAVE TO STAY IN THE BOTAFOGO EASY HOSTEL!!! My sister and i spent 10 days there and it was the best way to start our trip! We met people from ALL over the world , there's a jacuzzi in the courtyard outside which is really pretty in the evening, the coffee at breakfast is incredible, the rooms are clean and comfy, it's great value for money considering everything it offers. And best of all the staff are FANTASTIC! They're always around to give great tips and advice and they can book everything for you. Through the hostel my sister and i went paragliding with the best instructor in Rio and went to the most incredible restaurant (called Porcao i think) although not a place for veggies!!! And they might even teach you how to make a caipirinha if you're lucky! We had so much fun staying here, so if you go send lots of love to vitor from alex and sophie! Have fun, it's the most beautiful city in the world!!
Thanks for your tips here guys.... still havent booked it yet but i think i am gonna go for the botafogo easy hostel. it does sound great, thanks for that cookieyum.
