Hi again,
I was wondering, is it sensible to rent a car in Dublin, or is it easier to get by within the city on public transportation?
Thanks in advance

I went to Dublin for 3 days for my birthday awhile ago with friends. We didn't rent a car as there are good connections from the airport to the city via their dedicated service (can't remember the name but you just hop on/off) which was about 5euros return. Once you're in the city, everything is walking distance. It's also very easy to get around, you just orientate yourself around the river which runs through the city and you're fine. There are loads of hostels along the river too for a great price, ours even included breakfast! |

How long are you going to Dublin for and do you just want to stay in the city? |

Hello again, the public transport in Ireland is not really good. If you plan to go to Kerry as you said in your other post the better thing is to rent a car there is a website which is the cheapest (irish car rentals, or something similar). The bus is the only public transport in Dublin and is not reliable at all, but to drive in the city is a mess also... Ah! important: car rental companies here require you are over 21 to rent. However, if you are not over 25 they charge you an extra money (quite a lot) for the insurance. |
