Is there a way for a mod to split a thread?

Travel Forums System Talk Is there a way for a mod to split a thread?

What it says, ie "Is there a way for a mod to split a thread?"

I find it quite annoying to reply to an ancient thread that was started ages ago just because a first time poster replied to an old thread with a new, often only remotely related question.

Usually it is no big problem, but in some cases (visa questions especially) the poster would be better off if he or she started a new thread of her own.

The many different cases in the Schengen thread especially drive me up the wall. Visa-free entry, citizens of countries that need a Schengen C visa, people seeking residency permits, etc - all in there together and non-native speakers with poor english habe problems distinguishing the info that relates to them.

Is there a way for a mod to do that? Move the question out of the thread and start a new one on behalf of the poster?

Not at the moment, but it would seem a useful function. Agreed there!

In this regard, could you pretty please close the Schengen visa thread?

Maybe with a note "if you have not found the info here yet please start your own thread, stating your citizenship, current place of residency, travel plans and all that might be remotely related"?

Hey Maia,

Had the same idea, and I updated the sticky on top of the Europe forum to reflect this.

Could one of the overlords maybe put my latest post in the stickied thread in place of the original post and remove the other posts from the thread? That should do the trick I think.
