HELP! Which CampSite is best in Lakes for Sailing

Hi All Just need a little help/advice We are hoping to go camping for 2 nights to the Lake District and we have a 5 man inflatable boat with an outboard motor on it...I am just wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction of which campsite would be the best to go to that is close to the lake etc...we have no restrictions of where abouts in the Lakes...just a nice campsite, clean facilities, very close to the lake... I look forward to your recommendations Thanks in advance |

Hello there. I dont know how to recommend the 'best' campsite for sailing in the Lakes, but I can tell you of a very good one. Coniston Hall, Haws Bank, Coniston. It's a very good and very Ok priced site with all amenities showers toilets shop etc and there is a good path and launching ramp on the site too, that will take a good sized boat straight on to the lake. |

That's a great recommendation. I don't think there's a better campsite by a lake than that, and Coniston is a lovely lake. My other top choice would be the waterside campsite at Howtown on Ullswater, which is a particularly good lake for boating. Finally, there's the lakeside holiday park at Keswick on Derwentwater. And Ullswater too like magykal1 says. What a really lovely stretch of water. Ullswater is quite a bit bigger than Coniston Water. I only mention Haws Bank and not Howtown, because Ive never been to that campsite. Go with what everyone says though if theyve been there. The Lake District is just endlessly beautiful and there are so many good sites that have facilities to launch a boat. |
