My girlfriend and I have just recieved our New Zealand working holiday visa, and will be arriving there in june. However, we've just been reading through the forum and noticed the thread on the uk working holidaymakers visa. It was mentioned about not being able to open a bank account till you have an address, and not being able to get accomodation untill you have a bank account, bugger!
Are you lot aware if this is the case in New Zealand, and if so do you know of any ways round it.
Probably you should just contact the embassy or Immigration in NZ.
They should be able to help you!
I recommend going straight to the banks. Email them and ask them what your situation is. Here is a list of banks that we have in NZ. But I have to warn you, depending on where you are (if you go to a small town) your bank might not have a branch there. The ones that usually have branches in small towns is ANZ, BNZ and Westpactrust.
Also, from this end. I saw that at Thomas Cook (www.thomascook.com) you were able to create a UK account here in NZ, but I don't know if you can do it the other way around.
Anyway good luck with the bank account.
Thanks alot for all the advice. I'll definately get in contact with them and ask them bout the situation, fingers crossed hey!!!
Hopefully it will all be ok though. Mayb even my employers will be able to help when I get out there???
