Hi All,

My boyfriend and I are currently staying in Vancouver ( two Aussies on working holiday.) We have a rough plan to travel to Jasper, hopefully work there for a bit ( two months) if there are jobs available. Then slowly drive back to Vancouver stopping at varioius places for 2/3 days each before winter hits.

Question - Would we be better of (finances wise) to buy a cheap van say under $1500 and use that to sleep in or would we be better off staying at the cheapest places we can find ( dorms in backpackers hostels probably ) and using Greyhoud?

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks all :)

For a place with such scenery i'd want to stop often, the bus doesnt give you that option, the van idea is the way i'd go...
heres a current Craigslist of whats for sale in the Vancouver area
http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/search/cta?query=van&catAbbreviation=cta&minAsk=min&maxAsk=2000

Something like this would be ideal

Yeah we have been thinking that. Were looking at some Vans today, seems to be the most economical way to go. Thanks for your advice:)

i recently drove from vancouver to toronto, spending a lot of time in BC and Alberta, i think for that area you should def buy a cheap car and some camping gear (really cheap from walmart!!)! you'd probably want the flexibility of being able to stop off at places, its really beautiful, the okanagaon and the kootneys especially!

also, the hostel in jasper has 60 people to a room... not fun! i stayed in patricia lake cabins... very nice and not too expensive!
