Good luck with your planning Jessica.

Hi,

Visiting Vietnam. If you enjoy trekking, you can join the tour in Sapa-Fansipan mountain. You will trek to villages of ethnic minorities. It is so truly experience.
Climate in Sapa is very cool, clean. It is great place for relaxing and rest.
Have a good time in Vietnam

The only problem is that w/one week, you'll barely get started when it's time to go! I like Sapa too for trekking. If you go cycling, be sure you get a decent bike (most places have really cheap Chinese models that are almost not worth riding!) My friend Diep can help you with the details:

Cyclo in VN: you can enjoy in Ha Noi, Hue and Saigon.
On Dec everyear:
Ha Noi - cold weather, some rain, this should be the best place for cyclo in the ancient town/capital
Hue: some rain, old town, quite atmosphere
Saigon: economic city, noisy and active living style

Trekking in Sapa: high cost, can see many minority people. Then you can choose other place such as Mai Chau, you can also see many minority people with much lower cost by staying in local people house or you can choose the small hotel with quality about 2* - 3* (not much) I think this choice should be more economic.

Interesting place in VN
There are a lot interesting places in VN, however, with a week, you can not cover all. You can choose highlight trip and see some main point in Ha Noi - Hue - Sai Gon

Hope you will have a very good trip and see how beautiful of Viet Nam country ;)

Any needed [snip]help, feel free to ask me.

If you have only one week in Vietnam then i wouldn`t recommend going all down the country because you will spend as much time travelling as you will actually getting to see anything.
I would recommend like the earlier post said is going to Sapa maybe and spend a few days there as long as you are arriving in Hanoi.
The weather may be a bit cool there at the time you are planning to go but with the rain the countryside tends to look much more alive anyway so there is a plus side to it.
If you want to read about some of the things that are in the north of Vietnam or maybe to give some insight for the rest of the country then you can read my blog here on my facebook group here : -snip-
If you have any other questions feel free to pm me.

Have a great time in Nam. xD

Hi Jes,

You can try cyclo in Hanoi and Hue, but Hue is better.

About trekking, you should have a trekking tour in the north of Vietnam. Some places you can trek is Sapa, Mai Chau, Cat Ba National Park,... Especially, trekking to Fansipan Mt is the best.

-snip-

In Mai Chau you also can take part in a cycling tour. Or you can organize the cycling trip in Mekong delta in the south of Vietnam.

Hope it help and have a great trip in Vietnam!!!!
