Hello everyone! Im planning a trip to the states next year, and hoping to do the usual big city tourist thing. But im also really interested in finding some actual real american towns (away from the tourists) to visit for a day or so,whilst on my way to the next city? Thanks!
Which part of the USA are you planning to visit? Ive done quite a bit of it and can recommend some wonderful places off the beaten track. You will need a car though as the trains and buses dont drop you off closeby.
The first thing to do is stay off the interstate highway system.
Ill be starting in NY and working my way clockwise around the states to Florida,so any recomendations would be great!
Charleston and ,Savannah are definitely worth a stop.
Williamsburg, Virginia between Washington and Norfolk is very interesting:
If you come in summer, be sure to see the New Jersey Shore towns - I like the Cape May County area from Ocean City to Cape May (east of Philadelphia and south of Atlantic City):
