Easiest and fastest would be to fly from either Gatwick or Heathrow to Copenhagen Airport. A number of different airlines operate these two routes, and prices vary. You need to check the dates you want to travel.

From Copenhagen Airport there's a train every 20 minutes across the bridge to Malmö. The trip takes 20 minutes. Oneway fare is SEK 99, or equivalent in DKK.

Train and/or ferry would obviously take much more time and in all likelihood also be a bit more complicated. For instance I believe there's a ferry from England to Esbjerg in Denmark. But then you would have to take the train from Esbjerg to the Copenhagen/Malmö area. There is NO ferry that goes directly from England to Malmö. There MAY be one that goes to Gothenburg, but then you have 300 kms south to Malmö (easy enough with train though).

I don't know about train connections (all the way), so really can't comment on that, but you're probably looking at something like a 24 hour train ride.

Some of the airlines have really great rates, so they may in fact be very competitive with the train. Much depends on when you want to travel and how flexible you are.

Thank you so much for your help. I am very nervous coming over. I am from Canada and will be teaching in England. This really helped. Do you know any good websites to go on for plane tickets?

I'm sure there are others here on the Forum who can help you with that. I always buy my tickets directly from the airline. But you can simply go to Google and type in "Cheap airline tickets from London to Copenhagen" and it will give you plenty of choices. Be aware that many of the low cost flights leave from Stansted which is not all that convenient for you. Just glancing at some of the entries on the site (through Google), I see Stansted to Copenhagen for US$46.37 and Gatwick to Copenhagen for $57.51. Heathrow to Copenhagen is $158.11! But, again, it really depends on WHEN you want to travel, and you'll quickly see that if you google for this info.

If you have any specific questions about Malmö let me know - that's where I was born and lived for many years. And I was there just two weeks ago.

The OP is looking to getting to Malmo from Essex in England, as Stansted Airport is in Essex, it may be the most convenient airport to get to!

Good search engine for cheap flights: www.skyscanner.net
List of budget airlines: www.whichbudget.com

How to get from London to Malmö by train: See www.seat61.com

Flying will be faster and most likely cheaper.
