Thailand in 2007. Is it too soon to visit S. E. Asia again?

Your experience of places you have visited twice would be really appreciated...

In September 2007 me and 2 friends went to Thailand for just under 3 weeks. Due to limited time we travelled by plane from BKK - Chang Mai, Krabi, Phuket, back to BKK seeing each for a few days seeing as much as we could. Due to the short amount of time we didn't budget very much at all and spent around £1200 each in total (including £400 flights from UK to BKK).

In 2008 we did 3 weeks South India, Mumbai, Goa, Bangalore, Mysore, Aurangbad etc. Really enjoyed the trips but I am thinking whilst I am young (23) i should prob go back to S E Asia, do Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, to finish off in Thailand where another friend(s) can meet me to party (and do the less party orientated trips as we get older).

What do you think? Are the other countries in S E Asia too similar to Thailand to warrant visiting again within a 3 year period? My friend has made the logical assumption that we should see other places first as Cmabodia/Nam etc would be too similar to Thailand, but i am thinking whilst we are young we should see these surely amazing places in asia so we can mix travelling with partying at the end (in Thailand), only this time have more money but use it alot more wisely for a 3 month period. And go to other places when we are older.

What do you think? Any advice would be much appreciated.

I think Thailand changes a lot in these few years... Maybe you can consider visiting Thailand again. In my opinion, every country has their own uniqueness... Depends on what would you like to do... Well, I think it would be great to do Indo China and end it up in Thailand...

There's very few places in the world like Thailand! Laos and Cambodia are definitely very different and well worth the trip. Vietnam is as well generally once you are outside of the major cities.

3 years is quite long time for something changing. S.E area is amazing destination to explore. These countries maybe has the same geographical area but each one has private differences about culture, custom, lifestyle ...Thailand has own attraction and these others are too. You will come back S.E to see the changes of this area and to visit countries that you skip before.
You should travel to places you like when you are still young. When you are high age, you can't go any more.

I view every country as being different. Even though I visit Thailand annually my last two trips I took sidetrips to Cambodia. I still want to visit Vietnam and Laos hopefully next year. Different people different cultures different sights. That's a good enough reason for me.
