It is bad weather! Last time when I was in Sweden it was raining all the time. So, I cannot enjoy walking in this beautiful city :( But I had only 3 days to see everything!

For me the most depressing thing is the visa regime. I want to be able to travel wherever i want without anyone's permissions. And lack of money is also very annoying

Taxi drivers...

Actually I had a bad experience in Thailand only and once only. We agreed on 800 Bath plus road costs from Pattaya to Bangkok and we did pay 800 and I guess like 160 for tolls, when we did arrive to our hotel in BKK taxi driver asked another 200 bath. Well I did not argue with him as we were very tired and not in need of 200 bath but that wasnt nice at all.

the worst thing for us is that the time you are travelling passes by so quickly, and like us, no matter how much you travel and see, you will never see it all.:(

Saying goodbye to someone you met and got on really well with, knowing that you will probably never see them again.

However, if you keep in contact with them and meet up with them another time that's the best.

I don't like knowing I have probably another 50 years left on this planet maximum and when I die there will be masses of things I didn't get to see.

For this reason I buy lottery tickets.

I am loving travelling, and yet the most disappointing thing for me is the western child in me saying 'you should be working, what about your career? You're throwing your career away!' When I'm definitely enhancing my life....

I have ALWAYS wanted to travel and fulflling an absolute dream.

Yet my little western demon says 'you know you should be working'. And that's the most disappointing thing for me. Let me know if anyone feels the same!

Yes to that! I'm from a small town in the dead center of the US and had never traveled internationally before 09/11. After that, I decided that I needed to learn more about other cultures and how the rest of the world really thinks and operates. I started with an "easy" trip to the UK, and filled in my passport with other countries and corners of the map after that.

Last year was challenging in many ways, so I decided to start out this year on a positive note. I booked a trip to Spain, and after clicking the "purchase" button for the airline tickets, I immediately thought the same thing, "You should be working!" But it was the best trip of my life. I had to take on a little extra work when I got back to make up for it, and it was completely worth it. And because I was traveling by myself, I spent more time talking with waiters, cabbies, and locals (brushing up on my Spanish that had been rusting for ten years).

The most disappointing thing about traveling for me is when I miss to take beautiful pictures of different sites. I've experienced this many times. I once took a boat going to this beautiful island called Camiguin. We were suppose to arrive around 7am. So I was expecting to take pictures of the sunrise. I end up sleeping throughout the trip instead!

I guess it's knowing that no matter how much you liked the places, people and culture.. that you know you cannot stay there for long, that in reality you are only travelling, experiencing what life is like outside of your norms... unless you take a leap!

Hi,

The most worst part is to get injured or getting sick in between the traveling tour.Other thing
I'd say coming home is always disappointing. Not that I don't like home, but I hate that feeling of leaving vacation behind and having to take up the routine again.

Thanks.

Quoting DoA

Hi guys,

Just had a thought while I've been chatting to people I met travelling, on Facebook.

Personally the most depressing thing about travelling, for me, is knowing that the vast majority of people you meet, you'll never get to see again....

What's the most annoying / disappointing / depressing thing about travelling for you?

This way we can all hopefully learn to apprechiate what we've got & what we're experiencing when we're actually travelling!

DoA

ps. you can't say ... coming home / running out of money etc.

well im new on here and i havent travelled a great deal (compared to most of you on here i guess) apart from going to south east asia a few times in the last couple of years and places in europe (france, spain, greece, holland) when i was a kid and growing up in my late teens and early 20 's...im now 30 btw..

i was gonna say coming home, but you've said that cant be included so im just going to have to agree with you and say meeting people knowing your most likely never going to see them again :( although i do try and get as many phone numbers/email address's of people who i meet on my travels and try and keep in touch that way...

you never know what the future may hold....
