A Trip to Sanya

We intend to spend one week with my kids in Sanya, is the beach good for surfing? We know the weather is fine but what else we can do apart from bathing ourselves in the sunshine? Can anybody recommend some other activities, it couldn't be better if my kids can be involved, they are 10 and 7yrs. Your any suggestion is highly appreciated.

Yes the beach is good for surfing. (not the best but can surf) Lots of places to rent them.

But not much to do except sunbathe and swim and surf.
They call it the China's Hawaii or Russian Hawaii (rich russians come here for the beach). But a little less glamourous.

All the sites there are crappy and contrived. Don't go, waste of money. All tourist traps.

I've heard the monkey island is good, but it is a day trip as have to take a long boat ride.

Hi Sovarn, you are totally wrong, I went there only last year, the truth is it won't take us more than 5mins to take a boat to the monkey island, besides, tourists would rather take the oversee rope way, which is 2138 meters (7014 feet) long at the speed of 6 meters per second, it's really fun, and worth going.

You will have lot of things to do in Sanya apart from surfing. There are so many other water activities available like scubadiving, shorediving, boatdiving, snorkeling...hot spring of many kinds like fish therapy, in addition, you can explore in the tropical rainforest in Sanya and get some knowledge of local minorities.If you wish to know more, I suggest you consult some good local agencies like Chinasanya, you can find a lot of useful information in its website in English.
