Best place to stay in Beijing? Shanghai? Hong Kong? Xi'ian?

As the title says, anyone recommend a good hostel/guesthouse in Beijing. Me and my partner will be staying in there for 5 days or so. In a double room. Need to be good quality, price, location etc..

Any recommdations for places would be great.

While we are on the subject if you can let me know of any other good ones for the following places i will be visiting too would be fantastic.

- Shanghai
- Hong Kong
- Xi'ian
- Yangshou
- Guilin

Have you checked the Beijing budget accommodation section here on Travellerspoint? That includes hostels and guesthouses, but also a bunch of budget hotels which could work out given you are looking for a double (that can be trickier in hostels, although most will have some privates). The ratings listed on these pages are based on previous bookings and the reviews/ratings those bookers left, so especially in cases where there have been many reviewers, the numbers are a lot more reliable than sites where anyone can leave a review... There should be availability in all of those other cities you mention as well actually
