I was all set to book my RTW ticket and decided to to completely re-arrange evrything!
Instead of doing America first,I have decided to start the journey in Tibet. I just realised that I was going for quantity instead of quality. We are more interested in the eastern side,so thought that it made sense to spend more of our money there getting to as many places of interest as possible instead of blowing all of it on flights and over priced cities e.t.c in the U.S.
We are currently looking into flying to Tibet, (or close to), then going on the 8 day everest tour before going over land to India and and following a rough route south to Oz.
When we get to Oz we are hoping to get a work visa for 1 year to see what its like to live/work. We have free accommodation for a while untill were settled. Then we will have the option to do the U.S from there if we feel that we still want to!
Has anybody been on the tours to Tibet that are arranged over the web? Are they any good (reliable)? Also has anybody done a version of the route I am proposing, still wondering if it is doable overland or will we have to incorparate some internal flights? If anyone has any ideas from experience how much this could cost on a years budget I would be extremely greatful for some input! Cheers everybody!
