If you know who they are, then you know what they did.

For all of you guys not in america, the eagles recently signed Michael Vick as their back-up Quarterback.

You may be thinking, "Why does that name sound familiar?" Well ladies and gentlemen he is the man that spent the last 18 months in prison for running a dog fighting ring and torturing and killing dogs in various ways which include electrocution, sticking a dogs head in a bucket of water, and slamming dogs on the ground, and more!

I am completely against their decision and it seems like everybody else in this city is as well. I just can't imagine why they would do this. I know everyone in this city wants to see them win the super bowl but not with his help. I can't even imagine the response he gets when he steps on the field. The fans here have a pretty terrible reputation as it is. couple that with the amount of gun crime here and I honestly wouldn't be surprised if someone shot him!

What are your thoughts? should this man get a second chance? Personally I think he should get a second chance, but in life, not the NFL. Let him go back to his mansion and millions let him go on with his life and give speeches about dog fighting...but don't give him his job back! don't sign him for 6 million! Kids watch football! what does this tell them?!

ridiculous!

Damn Paul, you have my sympathies....the Eagles could have done better. I'm just glad my Bears or Isa's Vikings didn't pick him up.

However, I don't think Vick should be back in football.....especially with the $1.6M they're going to pay him, assuming the Commissioner releases him to play. His crime was an abomination. Had he simply stolen money I'd say give him a chance, but what he did comes from a sick and demented mind.....I find it difficult to believe one can simply repent and be forgiven. It's about the same to me as Mike Tyson and his rapes........keep him out of boxing.

It's too bad that society is so fickle as to give crap like this a pass.

As an aside, do you remember that great Eagles-Bears game in Soldier Field in the dense fog? Couldn't even see the field on TV.....brought me back the days where I could watch an white TV screen and still be entertained!!!! And I seem to remember the Bears won that game......

Good luck with the season, and if all goes well, Vick won't be playing anyway.

As a true canine lover and human being, I think Mr. Vick should be strung up by his fingernails and put in a dog enclosure with hungry pit bulls!

I seriously think the Philadelphia Eagles will come to regret their decision!

I have had dogs since I was young. Absolutely abhorred what Vick did. Very sick boy to do what he did to his own dogs. But, he has done his time, got the OK from the NFL to play again, so I will give him a second chance to play. I hate the Eagles, so hope he fails along with Philly. Vegas has no team, so most of our residents support teams from where they were born. I was born in Nevada, so of course I support the Steelers! A good friend of mine was from Pittsburgh and converted me to the Steelers back when Bradshaw was playing. So I hope Philly fails again and the Steelers repeat as NFL Champs!!

I agree with those who feel Vick should not be "welcomed" back onto the football field. Granted, he's definitely under the proverbial microscope to perform and uphold his community service work for the Humane Society. He's paid his dues with his time in jail. Fine. But, the Eagles are going to suffer for this decision via their fan base. If he's allowed to play and does well - people will welcome him back to the football fold - somewhere i don't feel he belongs anymore.

Personally, give him a job at the local humane society mucking out the cages for $1.00 a day. Better yet, as a volunteer. Just don't let him within arm's reach of an animal.

actually he hasn't gotten the ok yet. he has been reinstated but they are saying they will make a decision in 6 weeks time as to when and if he can play. If he does get the ok...Considering the headlines the other day: "Hide your dogs!", "What are they thinking?" and "Hide your Beagle, Vick's an Eagle".... I can't imagine the fans here are going to welcome him with open arms.

oh soupatrvlr: did you hear? Tony Danza might get a job as an english teacher here at Northeast high school as part of a reality TV show. This City is on a roll!

I watched him on 60 Minutes last night and just kept thinking to myself... despite what he is saying, he is still just pissed that he got caught, not what he did.... I didn't buy his contrition for a minute... And when they suddenly find God in jail... man, that always just seems so disingenous to me... ( And if you know much about his brother, you are even more convinced about the true make-up of the Vick boys).

But having said that... he went through the courts and did his time- Frankly his celebrity probably hurt him in his sentence..

I don't have a problem with him being permitted to play.. I just am glad my team ( Go Steelers!) didn't touch him- and there were some rumblings... Letting him play, and actually having him play for YOUR team are a big diffference...

I am pleased that the general consensus in Philly is negative- we will see if that changes if he makes a few 40 yard runs....
