The mixed blessing of America is that anyone with a car can go anywhere. The visible expression of our freedom is that we are a country without roadblocks. And a driver's license is our identity. My dream, from way back—from high school, when I first heard the name Kerouac—was of driving across the United States. The cross-country trip is the supreme example of the journey as the destination.

I'm a firm believer that everyone should drive across the country once in their lifetime. With that said it can be very tough at times, you need to kind of put your brain on hold as the miles roll on endlessly at times.
I always wonder how it turned out for the posters who post looking for info on a trip to N.America. For those posters you need to get back to us to tell forum members what worked and what didnt, comments and advice can be very helpful for those with similar plans.Philipe when you get back drop us a post on how it went..Good luck on your upcoming trip..

Well, the trip was postponed. I don't want to have to deal with the low temperatures I'm clearly not used to.
So the road trip is postponed to summer but I'm still going to to the US soon. I'll stay 3 weeks in Los Angeles. Anyone from the area?
