Hi,

In a total change of last minute plan we are looking at 2 weeks in India on 12 September (not far now!)

Flights are cheap to Delhi and would like to fly back from Kathmandu.

I am planning to go from Delhi and see Agra, Jaipur, Jodhpur (for the fort), Tigers (at Sariska?), Varanasi and then into Nepal to Kathmandu.

Is this possible in 2 weeks?

Specifically, do I have time to book decent AC1 or AC2 class trains this close to travelling? I don't want to get there and everything is booked up!

Is September OK to go? I know it is back end of the monsoon season and quite hot ......
Thanks
Steve.

you can book the train tickets online, start with the very excellent seat61 for train advice.

I think you are doing way too much for 2 weeks, stay in india, kathmandu is a long haul (unless you fly).

I booked all trains and accommodation (hostels) from my my armchair in the uK, all went smoothly, very important to have bookings when time is tight

Thanks, good to know that and I have found some websites that I can book with.

As it happens I have just booked flights to Peru instead..... putting India back to next Feb but at least I have time to plan it, and it's won't be raining as much!

Cheers,
Steve

Feb would be a nice time to visit India, dry and cool !! Covering so much in 2 weeks is difficult even if u catch a flight for some places. The places in Rajasthan itself would require a minimum of 7-8 days, so i believe either reduce some places or increase the time by a week.

Train tickets can be booked online at www.irctc.co.in and hotels at many of the cities can also be booked online!!

Hi

I would say for 2 weeks you can cover Delhi, Agra ( you can visit Fatehpur Sikhri on you way) Jaipur and Jaisalmer ( lovely desserts) would be a good idea.

Delhi itself has a lot of things to see and shop around. Also do go to the Akshardam temple and Bahai temple while you are there
