What is the difference between the pro memory sticks and the normal ones? Someone told me that in some countries the pro memory sticks wont work in the machines which burn your cds!

Please help!

I thought it's just the file system on the card that is different.
Compare it with fat16 and fat32 on disks (and compact flash memory)

No difference real difference between Memory stick and Memory stick Pro, Pro does the movie side of things a little better / tend to be in larger memory capacity sizes. Although Memory Stick Pro seems smaller in physical size, you should get like a mini adapter thing with it that makes it larger, aka, to the size of an "ordinary" sized Memory Stick. As for Duo, it's just smaller in physical size, and will fit into the smaller Sony cameras. They all do the same thing though, it's more to do with the size you want your memory to be, or what fits in your camera.

As for ones that can't be burnt, to my knowledge, anything that says "Magicgate" / "Magigate" cannot be burnt to CD in the Uk, although they're faster cards, all out lickle old machines don't run at such high speed. :(

Cheaper Memory sticks can be found with a company called "Lexar". They make the blinky version of a Memory stick (ordinary one), but appear to be cheaper, and do the same thing *shrugs*.

As for other differences, as the dude said up there ^^ capacity. With Memory Sticks (ordinary ones), you get 8mb, 16mb, 32mb, 64mb and 128mb. If you want a larger size, ya have to go for a Memory Stick Pro. Again, physically smaller, you should get an adapter with one, to make it larger and make it fit into your camera. These will be in sizes 256mb, 512mb, and 1gig (I think they might even go up to 2 gig's now... but dont quote me).

Hope that helps !
