Hi Folks

I am from India and am planning for a trip to Switzerland and Austria (maybe Germany). Has anyone from South Asia visited there and do you think May is a good season. How may days would you give this trip. Any other combinations that i can do with Switzerland without increasing my budget substansially

and lastly :) Any good Indian restaurant?:)

I am not from SE Asia, but I think May is a good season to go to Switzerland if you do not want to go up into the mountains. If you want to go up into the mountains you need to go in July/August.

I would plan on 2 weeks Switzerland and 2 weeks Austria. Southern Germany: 1-2 weeks, all of Germany 3-5 weeks.

You can combine Switzerland with Italy, I think this would be perfect for May. May in Italy is usually warm, so you won't feel too cold.

Plan on 10-14 days for Northern Italy.

Too much and too little. Too little to ski and to much for hiking. It can be dangerous to go up to the peaks above 2000 meters in May. The huts where people can find shelter in a snowstorm will not be open until late June.

Hi Prema,

If u really want to enjoy ur trip, stop looking for Indian food when travelling abroad !!! Every other day we have it, go for the local cuisine while on a holiday to get a real feel of the region.:)

As Maria suggested, southern Germany is indeed beautiful and can be easily combined with Austria and Switzerland !(Thank God, Switzerland now comes under Schenegen Visa !!!)

How many days have u planned for this trip?

Cheers
Arif
