I was wondering if there isnt already a thread or forum for when people find really cheap deals..

For example ive found that Ethiad airways do return flights from london to Johanassburg for £275

and German wings do London moscow flights for £110 return.

is there already a forum for this? I think it would be a good idea if not, though it might be a bit of a target for sales plugs...

Do you mean 'Etihad' are doing London Jo'burg for that price? They are normally no cheaper than British Airways to South Africa. I would be very interested to see a flight there for the price you quote.

Not on TP, but on virtualtourist/tripadvisor you can post deals.

I'm a member of virtualtourist, but I never pay attention. Most of the deals there don't interest me (100 USD off a night at a certain 5-star hotel on an obscure island in the Caribean) or are old news (flights for 0.01 cent plus taxes with ryanair).

I also could do without the "spam" from virtualtourist (Deals Alert: hot new deals on VT!), it is send into your inbox of the virtualtourist email account and unlike private emails stays there forever until you click on it and read it. (Private emails get deleted after 3 months - unless you have specifically saved them into your archive.)

Old news if you are talking about flights that require you to change in either Cologne or Berlin, those flights have been available ever since Germanwings started to fly Berlin-Moscow and Cologne-Moscow ages ago, you just had to book them seperately (London-Berlin, Berlin-Moscow).

If they are now flying direct though....

That would be actually be a great idea.
I vote for a sticky topic!

On a side note: that's cheap! I found Egyptair having similar deals (less than 300 GBP) from Amsterdam to Johannesburg.

They are really cheap! About 2 months ago, I bought a return flight from London to Joburg, leaving at the end of September and returning at the end of November, and paid 265 pounds, plus 5 quid because their website was not working properly, and I had to book through Opodo. Couldn't believe it...

I just checked the flights for the same days now- the cheapest is 350, and the Etihad flights I booked were over 450 pounds now. But yes, Egyptair also seemed like a good deal.

I should have added that the Ethiad flights were an 18 hour journey, with a connection in abu-dhabi.

it seems they have gone up. its an airline worth watching though for future deals.

I am still assuming you are talking about 'Etihad' as I cannot find an 'Ethiad' airlines site.

Etihad as I said already do have some deals very occasionally, but overall they are not a cheap airline. The best deal I have found from London to Tambo over the past few months is with Iberia via a change in Madrid. They posted flights for just over £350 including tax etc. and Etihad's cheapest was £470 on the same dates.

I travel to South Africa quite a bit and for me the most convenient carrier is BA when flying from the UK. It's a non-stop direct flight and the difference in price between them and the others is minimal. Interestingly have you seen the prices that SAA charge for the same route? So expensive and they are the only other airline that do the flight without a change.

Lufthansa do some OK deals too, as do KLM but again it involves changing in either Franfurt or Schiphol and for anyone that's ever had a change in Frankfurt you will know what I mean when I say it isnt exactly fun there is it? Schiphol is a good hub in comparison to Frankfurt but again the changing planes and the small difference in price is just not worth it. When you consider that a change will involve a few hours wait and no doubt a few drinks and a bite to eat and that BA will give you 2 excellent free meals and drinks, thats going to be another £20 each way saved. It all adds up.

Air Asia are doing London - Kuala Lumpur for £350 return. They also do flights from KL to bali for £15, or Perth for £37.

And they have or are about to start flights to/from Dubai as well (i remember some edit in the travelguide somewhere).

I guess we have to keep it sticky ourselves, because Isa certainly is not helping
