Hi Guys,

I will Melbourne in the 27th September and think am staying there for a few days. However, i was thinking of going to Tasmania. Does anybody know anything about it? What’s it like? What’s the best way to get there!!

Anything that is good to do or see?

I would love a travel partner!! Any ideas or information....let me know!!

It depends if you have a bit of time and want more of an experience or if you have little time and want a quick stopover as to what is the best way to get there. If you want more of an adventure, then getting the Spirit of Tasmania one way and a flight the other way would be the best, but if time is very tight then just get a flight each way. It will not be cheap though for flights late in September and early October as quite a lot of people are coming to Tasmania around that time.

If you love nature then Tasmania is possibly the best place in Australia to go (although the weather recently has been rather horrible). If you are able to drive then hiring a car is a great way to see Tasmania and is very advisable as buses are very infrequent outside of the main cities.

Tasmania has plenty of things to see and do especially in the Greater Hobart area and the greater Launceston area. For nature the East Coast is really nice. If you really want to just get away from it all Tasmania has many hidden places you can go.

We took a car over on the overnight ferry to Davenport and drove around the north of the island for a weekend. Camped at Cradle mountain national park which is great if you like hiking. Also visited a Tazmanian devil sanctuary.

Just be aware its nearly always raining in Taz.

I wouldn't say it's nearly always raining in Tasmania - I think it only rained once in the 2 weeks that I was there (in November).
