fed.m.ang has indicated that this thread is about France

Good day, everyone!

I have a big problem. Next Saturday, I'll be visiting France to welcome a friend at the CDG airport. I have already bought tickets and is scheduled to arrive there at 1am of Sept 5. By the way, I am Filipino, not an EU-citizen but is currently residing in Germany and will stay here until December, as I have a working visa for 6 months (I've been here for 2 months already) as a lab researcher.

Unfortunately, last week, I had to send my passport by mail to the South Korean consulate because I'm applying for a visa for a conference. It seems they will not return the passport before Sept 5. Prior to sending, I photocopied the relevant pages of the passport with me so I can have proof of identity just in case. Is it okay to present these photocopies (or perhaps I'll bring all other documents like residency registration, working contract) just in case I get checked at the border?

Thank you so much guys!!!

...I would suggest that you ask at your Embassy, they will be able to tell you precisely what you need...good luck

hi nantic!

Merci beaucoup for your reply!

Do you mean the French or my country's embassy?

I am scared of calling the French consulate in Stuttgart... Ich spreche ein bisschen Deutsch und/et Je parle un peu le Fran├žais. ;_;

You need to go to the embassy in Germany where your passport is at once and tell them your situation. You dont say how you are getting to CDG. If you are crossing from Germany into France by train then the chances are you wont be stopped and questioned as the vast majority of rail links just wizz straight across from one country in the EU to another. There are occasional spot checks though.
However if you are travelling to CDG by air then you wont be allowed on your flight without the correct papers. Photocopies will not be permitted as travel documents. You will need your passport to fly unless you have an accepted ID card that permits you to travel across EU borders.

Doesnt say whether they are flying or using other means of transport to get to CDG from Germany.

Hi everyone, thanks for your replies.

I'm going there via DB Bahn and RER. All from ground since plane trips to CDG is way expensive. Thanks BedouinLeo, I'll see what I can do. :D

I wish you the best of luck. I travel DB quite a lot from Germany to Holland and rarely has the train stopped at the border for a check. I think in the last year I have been on DB about 20 times or thereabouts and we've been boarded just once for a check going from Frankfurt to Amsterdam and back. The train was boarded on the Dutch side. I tell you, you really do want to make sure you are 100% OK to cross before you take the trip. I have seen people turned back when their paperwork appeared to be in order. Hope it goes OK for you.

Thank you so much. I *might* actually be able to make the Korean embassy expedite their visa processing on Monday. Hopefully they return my passport ASAP. Thanks again for all your help!

Best,
Fed
