A suggestion has been put forward to meet up at the Tattershall Castle, which is a restaurant on a boat just down river from the parliament buildings. Easiest to get there from Embankment or Charing Cross tube station, though it is just a quick jaunt across the water from Waterloo as well. I would suggest we plan to meet at 11:30 AM - 12:00 Noon, if that works.

From there, we can head off and do whatever - split into groups to see stuff, if we so choose.

I would suggest picking a meeting up around dinner time as well, for those who can't join earlier. Any ideas from the crowds?

Sounds like a good meeting place Greg with a good time and location. If anyone is arriving earlier (like Sam & Maria) and needs to kill time (or stay out of the rain), they could always hit the National Gallery/Portrait Gallery for a great, free thing to do.

For dinner, a friend of mine suggested a Thai/Asian restaurant called The Banana Leaf Canteen, in Clapham Junction. She said that this area also has loads of fun bars in the area that are free to get in, play good music and the drinks are reasonable..there will also be no ques to get into bars. This way, those who want to enjoy a pint can, and those that do not partake might enjoy the music and company. Does this sound good to anyone? Maybe meet there (somewhere) around 6pm. Otherwise, she suggested going somewhere in China Town that has good value for money.

Hmmm. Clapham Junction is south of the river. There be dragons there...

Kidding... But it could be a little out of the way if folks are staying centrally? Where is anyone coming from who is coming?

This sounds good to me. I arrive at 9.30 at Heathrow, so 2 hours should be enough to make it :) I am not too familiar with London, so leaving the choosing to the locals like yourself Greg! Seriously though, I'm flexible!

Hello everyone.
I was thinking it would be a good opportunity to meet up with all of you here. But it looks like I might not be able to make it unless I'm able to follow the whereabouts of you guys between 5pm to 8:30pm - this is the only time I can make it coz I'm working in the morning and have got a farewell gathering after 8:30pm. Anyhow, I hope all of you would enjoy and have some great fun. Cheers.

Okay, here is the schedule for Saturday October 24.

Lunch (11:30 AM - 12:00 Noon) - Tattershall Castle. A restaurant on a boat just down river from the parliament buildings. Easiest to get there from Embankment or Charing Cross tube station, though it is just a quick jaunt across the water from Waterloo as well. Unfortunately it looks like the weather will be bad, so I would suggest we meet up here at this time, and then move onwards from there.

After lunch folks can go off and do what they wish. Lots of tourist attractions in the area.

Pre-dinner Meetup (6:30 - 7:00) - All Bar One, Leicester Square. We can get in from the cold and have a quick nip before heading up to Chinatown to find a decent place to eat.

If anyone is interested in attending and has access to a mobile / land-line, drop me a line and I will send you my mobile phone number. This way we can call / text and be in touch for the event.

In the event we haven't met before, and you want to know what I look like, I will be wearing a red baseball cap with no logo on the front. I have a light brown jacket and will wear a light purple shirt. Also, check out my profile for a few pics of me.

Cheers,
Greg

Sorry for being missing in action for so long. It's been madness at work in the past couple of weeks. But it seems Greg has already posted a message on the suggested venues. :)

Anyway, the confirmed ones (so far) are:

Tattershall Castle and All Bar One it is then.

One word on the choice of dinner venue though: I am muslim which kinda limits my choices. And wasn't somebody else vegetarian?

While Chinese/Asian is generally ok with me I looked up the Banana Leaf Canteen on http://www.zabihah.com which pretty much has all the muslim friendly restaurants - it is not listed there. Neither are there any other halal restaurants listed in the area.

But looking at zabihah there seem to be many muslim eateries around Edgeware Road tube station. There are even a bunch around Leicester Square listed: Souk Bazaar 27 Litchfield Street, Jom Makan 5-7 Pall Mall East (Malay)and Mint Leaf 4 Suffolk Place (Indian). Does anybody know these places?
