What do you guys do with your pets when you leave?
I have my dog who I'm going to be leaving with my parents/family while I'm away- I'm just so scared that something will happen while I'm gone. He's going to be 12 when I leave, but he's in great health and hasn't had any serious problems. I'll be gone for approx 12 months, and I'm just afraid that something will happen because he's an older dog- and I'd have to fly back to Canada in an emergency.
Does anyone else worry about their pets while they are away? The longest I've been gone was 5 weeks, and nothing happened to him, he was fine when I got back lol.
My Jack Russell Terrier (age 8 in November) is my son, and I also worry, but I have searched and found an ideal place for him to stay - wonderful people. I think that's the key, who's taking care of your dog? I pay $30. a day for boarding in a private home on 5 acres - no cages there, and very personal attention with true dog lovers. These people are so good, I had to tell them their prices were too low. The caregivers email my JRT's picture to me each week while I'm overseas, but this usually just makes me homesick! I usually board for 30 days at a time.
well I'm thinking my parents would take him in... I think its best for him because he's lived here all his life. We're (my dog and me) moving out at the end of the month, but I think if he was to go anywhere it would be back here. My brother lives close by too so I'm hoping I can convince them to take him to the dog park whenever they take their own dog. He's a bit of a stress ball too, so if I choose a kennel for part of the time I'd have to de-sensitize him for the months leading up to my departure date. But I think the least stressful thing for him would be to give him to my rents while I'm away!! My poor dog :P I feel almost guilty for leaving him, but at the same time- I can't wait around or make excuses. He's in great health but I just feel sick knowing theres that possibility *something* could happen :"P !!
I always worry/miss my pets. But, most likey, they'll be fine!
