hi.
I am a freelance website designer and i am looking to move out to south east asia in the very near future.

My preference would be Thailand I guess but i have never been to south east asia so im only going on advice from other travelers. However, from what i have gathered there is no legal way to work as freelancer in thailand without having to setup as a limited company, employing four thai members staff etc.

So i am wandering if anyone knows anything about Cambodia and if i can work as a freelancer legaly.
i dont mind working illegally but i just dont want to end up getting slapped in prison for a few months.

Perhaps someone can sugguest other parts of south east asia, which would be good to work freelance.

Your advise would be greatly appreciated.

Cambodia is probably a good choice for working in SEA. You can declare yourself a businessman and stay as long as you want. I have a friend who has been in Cambodia for over 10 years. He never leaves and just buys his 'business visa' on a yearly basis. Figure about $250/year to stay legally in Cam. He now owns a bar/restaurant in Sihanoukville (see my blog) but you do not have to open a business to qualify. Pay your visa fees and do what you like. Very easy compared to Thailand. Send me a PM if you have questions.
