HK is very easy to get around as it is very small. I would just get a guide book and use the public transport (Star Ferries, Trams and the underground system) which is great in HK.

New Years Eve will be crowded - Especially Tsim Tsa Tsui - would recommend a night tour of Victoria Harbor on a ferry. It is very beautiful at night - I agree with the previous poster - guide book and public transport is the best combination.

However, if you do want a bus tour, your hotel will be able to organize very easily.

Another thing you might look into is the architectural walk - the tourist office used to offer this. They give you a map and a CD walkman which describes the different buildings in HK. The tourist office used to be in the Landmark building in Central. You could look into that too. Gives you a great perspective of the buildings and history of HK (don't know if they offer it anymore though)

hello,

i think new year's eve will be crowded everywhere. usually there will hv countdown functions in a street in Tsimshatsui, Central, Mongkok......there's also fireworks for the countdown at the IFC (the 2nd tallest building will-be in HK) in Central.

at that night, most of the public transportations will be in service until maybe 3am. u should forget about the bus tour. HK is not big. just walk, take the MTR (underground+train), trams (only serves in HK island), ferry....it is very convenient. transportation in HK is not expensive at all.

i hope the info helps!
