rygaard22 has indicated that this thread is about Philippines

Hallo there.

I'm planning a short trip from Hong Kong to the Philippines and was hoping for some help.

First of all, the trip will be in late October; how is the weather in October?

My biggest concern is that I don't know where to go at the Philippines, and was then hoping that someone could advice me.

I can get airplane-ticket to either Manila (Sangley Point Nas) or Luzon (Clark Field) but I dont know where to go from there.

I would like to go to a romantic island with great atmosphere and top beaches like Boracay, but it doesn't have to be Boracay. Instead it need to be easy and cheap to get there, from either Manila or Luzon (Clark Field)

The theme for the trip is: "Romantic relaxation on a beautiful beach with my girlfriend."

Hope that anyone can help me.

Thanks...

I am going to suggest you take a look at Puerto Galera on Mindoro. Just 3-4 hours from Manila, white sand beaches and great diving and snorkeling. I have photos in my gallery of both Boracay and Puerto Galera.

Hi,

I've got lots of suggestions for you regarding your trip to the Phils. Travel advisory is a service I willingly share FOR FREE to anyone who would like to visit our country.

So for a romantic get-away, Boracay is not really the place because there's a lot of tourists in there although you can enjoy some privacy if you book in ShangriLa or some posh hotels which may cost around US$150-200 per night. These more expensive hotels are located in Station 1, which is the more secluded and private part of the island.

Traveling to the Phils towards the end of October should fetch a fairer weather than if you do in the Months of August or September.

Anyway, i am not necessarily saying that Boracay is expensive. It has just become too touristy that to get the honeymoon feel, then it means you should spend a lot more. Now, for about the same budget, there's so much you can already enjoy in Palawan, which is dubbed by tourists as "the gods' own country." If you go there, you may even remark: can paradise get any better? Indeed, the beaches are great, secluded and enchanting. When you want some outdoor activity, walking distance from the famous beaches would be the PALAWAN SUBTERRANEAN/UNDERGROUND RIVER. You can also go mountain trekking if you want. The entire island is the Philippines' last frontier. Trees that are centuries-old are surprisingly spared from logging activities. From the underground river site, you may continue your trip to CORON, PALAWAN. It's another section of the paradise island. There you can go on a boat trip, have a romantic dinner by the beach front, go snorkling, scuba-diving, etc.

When you're done with Palawan, you may come back to Manila. From Manila, you may then go to Bohol Island.

Bohol is another exciting island because it is a complete package: adventure (cliff hanging, zipping, rapeling and many more), romantic river cruise, secluded white powdery beaches, mountains, bee farm, waterfalls, the famous CHOCOLATE HILLS, and the endangered smallest monkey in the world just the size of a fist -- THE TARSIER.

I blog a lot about these islands which can help you can find detailed information from the airport, within Manila, and to your chosen vacation spot. However, this site prevents us from posting links. So, better contact me here -snip, use messaging centre-

Anyway, I happen to own a hostel in the heart of Makati City, which is really the financial and entertainment center of the Philippines. My place is about 3 kms away from the airport. When the traffic is ok, the taxi ride can be as short as 15mins. From Sangley airport to the city capital, it would take you about 1.5 hrs. From Clark to Manila, it should be around 2.5 hrs. But even if Sangley is nearer Manila, I advise you to take the trip from Clark because it is less stressful. Traffic is more manageable and you go thru the North Luzon Expressway, which seems to me a straight line to Manila. However, don't fall into the trap of taking a private van from there coz operators may charge unsuspecting tourists way above the reasonable price. Rather, even if you're on honeymoon, take the bus (which is comfortable) because that would give you a better feel of the city and a more familiar experience of traveling within the country. Provided your arrive in Clark before 3pm, I'm sure there would still be buses available to bring you to Manila. Your first stop should be SM Megamall, Mandaluyong City and from there, it's easy to take a cab to the place where you'll book yourself for a good night rest before you fly to your dream honeymoon destination.

When you're in Manila, you can right away book yourself a bed in the best hotel or choose to spend the first night in our hostel (which does not have the privacy for honeymooners). -snip-

So long for now, I'd like to hear from you again.

Lights and blessings,

Ronald

just to share my piece... if you are able to get tickets to Clark airport, it would probably more wise to visit Subic which is about 45 minutes from Clark. Subic has good beaches and nice nature adventure parks. Or you may book a resort in Zambales province.. maybe in Iba.

I don't think Sangley point has international flights.. so you'd probably connect to NAIA in Manila. From Manila, about 3 hours down south you can find beautiful beaches in Batangas province, for example is Balai resorts in Anilao or Laiya... or i'd agree with vegasmike that you can opt to go to Puerto Galera but from Batangas you'll need to take a boat or ferry to get there.

October time would be a lot better where the monsoon has ended with minimal rains coming in...

Well Thanks for your advice..

Is it possible to get some advice about how to get from Clark Field and/or Manila (Ninoy Aquino Intl) to your suggested destinations?

I will give you some [snip]travel guides in where is the best island to go among the 7,101 islands of the Philippines. there is Bohol is home to the Tarsier, midget monkey of the Philippines and the smallest monkey in the world. The island of Boracay in Visayas, there is the white Beach, touted as the “finest beach in the world.” Pearl Farm is located in the city island garden of Samal off the coast of Davao City. When you get here people will die to tell you more about the greatness of the Philippines has to offer.

thank you for your help already...

Click on 'Puerto Galera'. On the left panel, under 'For Visitors' is a menu. First one down is "getting here". Click on that and it will detail what bus to catch & the ferry times. You can buy a bus/ferry ticket in Manila for a cheap price. Good luck with your planning..
