hi guys,

I spontaneously thought of going to Colombia for about 3 weeks (vacation from work).
Traveling from Sept 13 09 till Oct 10 2009.

Is it too dangerous to go alone? for a girl?
Anyone of you guys going there around these dates?

Thanks and enjoy your trip,

No. It's not dangerous if you stay out of the dangerous areas. Colombia is a great country and only now starting to become popular...keep it under your hat.

I found Colombia perfectly safe for a girl on her own. It nearly went in the opposite direction (as it often does) and people I met became overly protective of me! Obviously, as with anywhere else, use common sense and trust the locals- if they warn you of a certain area etc. it's worth taking their advice. I think the biggest hazard in Colombia are the crazy bus drivers who speed down the spiralling roads!

Get to know some locals if you can. Local knowledge is invaluable. Be weary and keep your wits about you, just general commonsense.

Colombia is overall safe if you travel smart but there are places you just should not go, these are mainly rural areas.
