Sending souvenirs home

Travel Forums General Talk Sending souvenirs home

Just a general question about travelling abroad, is it usually easy to send things home rather than carrying all with me?

Do most countries have Post offices or is there better ways to send odds and ends back to the UK safely?

Thank you.

Hi, most places have local post offices, if you have trouble finding it, you can always take it along to your next destination and post it from there.

It all depends on which countries you are travelling in, regardless of where you are sending the packages to. Many countries in Eastern Europe, South America and the biggest culprit of all Australia, have a habit of opening the packages both on entry and exit. I have had so many parcels opened and re-sealed with 'Customs Inspection' tickets stuck all over them.
I would suggest that if you want to send packages home or to friends, that you have it sent with a compensation paid fee included. This still won't deter the goods being opened, but you may get some money back if the contents are damaged or missing. Mind you, if you have moved on to another country by the time you get the news of goods damaged or missing from the original postage, then it all becomes very messy and difficult to make a claim.
