Hostel in Buenos Aires

Travel Forums Central/South America & The Caribbean Hostel in Buenos Aires

Can anyone recommend a hostel in Buenos Aires? I'm looking for somewhere that does private rooms as well as dorms.

A friend recommended staying in a serviced apartment rather than a hostel - has anyone ever done this in Buenos Aires?

Guess you've already looked here?

After seeing your post I sent a friend of mine currently in BA a message asking her for her opinion. There's loads of apartments for rent she says and you'd get much more space, probably for cheaper if you are staying longer. Personally I'm rather hesitant about booking places online for months on end just over the internet, preferring the option of scouting them out on arrival a bit more. So I typically end up with a hostel or some such for the first week or so and then use that week to find myself something more long term.

In any case, my friend mentioned http://www.bairesapartments.com/ as an option for apartments but I'm sure there are more sites around. I do like looking at these in advance, even if just to figure out what kind of price seems normal.

Some of the ones that caught my fancy just looking through the ones here on TP were Hostel Suites Obelisco and Hostel Suites Florida (both are really highly rated and the ratings are based on several hundred visitors in the past 6 months alone). Based on looking at a few of them, around 30USD for a single, and 40-45USD for a double seems roughly the rate. You can certainly get cheaper though from what I've seen/heard!

Hope that helps. Still hope to spend a few months living in BA at some stage over the next few years!!

Hi Sam

Thanks so much for the response and for contacting your friend. I really like the look of the two hostels you suggested so I think we'll go with one of those, rather than an apartment, as we're not sure how long we're staying initially.

Thanks again
Becky
