Anyone know of any good hotels that are reasonably priced. Swimming pool and quite near the centre. Can pay upto £21 a night as there for 6 nights. Got to be clean and have a great atmosphere. What will the weather be like around 25th October, will it be hot ?

Many Thanks

Cliff

Cliff, your questions are somewhat vague in that they are relative. It will be hot but that also depends on where you are coming from, you are also entering the cooler season but you may not feel the difference, especially in the city. Also, the last couple of years they have been experienccing what they call global warming, according to the locals, where it has been unseasonably warm, even in the mountains.

Hotels, there are so many, try;

3 years ago we stayed at Chiang Mai Thai House, 5/1 Tapae Soi 5 Tel: (053) 904 110, (053) 904 737 . Recommend it for the price. Great value but we moved after 2 days to a much lower quality/price place. Following is the blurb that led us to it - "The brand new Chiang Mai Thai House opened in mid 2005 and represents outstanding flashpacker value. While it is more of a hotel than a guesthouse, the rooms and bathrooms are immaculate and we mean immaculate. Warm water showers, comfortable beds and a choice of fan or air-con give a range of options for guests. There is also a very nicely finished pool on the ground floor and a comfortable soi-side area to relax in. A minor gripe is the service in the common area, but service is otherwise very friendly and professional. Dbl fan 450B, Dbl AC 850B"
The pool was great.

I know you asked for a hotel with a pool, this hotel does not have a pool. Use it for a back up if necessary. Some rooms have bath tubs if that helps.

Montri Hotel, opposite Thapae Gate. Close to restaurants, internet shops, Seven Eleven type stores, travel agencies for tours. Free ride to the airport. Short walk to the Night Market. Flea market at the Thapae Gate every few days. Used this place 3 times, all rooms have air, hot water, in room toilet/showers, TV and maid service.

Thailand has summer like weather all year long. Some Thais think Chiang Mai is a little cold, you see them with knit caps pulled down and sweaters, this is while I am in a T-shirt. You should be okay this time of year, even if it rains it will usually stop in an hour or so. It will be warm and sunny enough to give you a sunburn if you are not careful.

Good luck.
