So I was just wondering, what is the main specialty dish of your country? Us Canadians... I don't even know if we have any! A lot of our "traditional" foods (maybe just in Quebec anyway) revolve around maple syrup. So what would you say is the official dish of your country? Also, what's the dish you miss the most when you're away?

P.s. My answers would be Poutine (in Quebec anyway) which is french fries in gravy with melted cheese on top for the official dish, and BeaverTails as one of the things I miss most.

Here in Wales, I guess we have a few, tho off the top of my head, I can think of two right now...

The first being Welsh Rarebit, recipe can be found here

and the second, being more of a Welsh delicacy than a dish, being Laverbread... Details, recipes, pics, etc. can be found here (although it's basically just seaweed).

Oh yeah, we also have Welsh Cakes, mmmmmmmmmm, recipe here.

Is Shepherd's Pie a Canadian delicacy? I hate that stuff. Pass the ketchup!

Ooh! Ooh! That last post made me a Travel Guru!

Does that mean I'm really into travelling or I'm really bored at work??

Haha! Nice one tina! Perhaps you are enthusiastic about travelling (like myself) and bored at work

Thanks Airfix for the recipes! Appreciated!

Btw, it's for a personal project that I'm working on, so all replies are super appreciated!

What I miss most when I travel is the nice brown (dark) bread... but I'm talking about the bread our friends (they are farmers) bake and not the one u can buy in a shop.

In AUT we have a few nice dishes:

Applestrudel, Wienerschnitzel (but I dont like it)
lots of cakes and biscuits, dumplings...
(very rich food I guess)

but my family doesnt eat 'typical
'austrian food anyway...
