Hello,

I would like to see all the indigenous animals of the below places:

Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Cambodia, India

Have you visited any particularly interesting sanctuaries, reserves, safaris, a really good Elephant trail anything like that? I know its terribly contraversial but I would love to hold an orangutan ride an elephant through a lake anything like that, but would also enjoy just watching in the hope of seing something rare.

Im not interested in zoo's or advice about nasty tiger parks where they drug the cats and remove their teeth, ive seen enough of those myself.

But would love to hear about any genuinly good experiences you had and costings for them.

I am 24 and fit so able to hike/climb/swim. I don't have my Paid yet but am also interested in doing it while away.

Any animal (s) experiences would be appreciated.

Hey Monkeypod.
Nice choice!

Maybe a little ambitious to say that you want to see all indigenous animals, but I guess some parks have a fairly good chance while other don't.
Also one thing: you don't want to visit parks where tigers are drugged, yet you want to hold a orang utan? Please avoid both, they have zoos and stuff for that;)

Although I don't speak out of experience, I personally think that especially Malaysia and also India are your best bets. Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam are not really known for much wildlife.

Check the Malaysia and India articles here on TP as well.

Parks with tigers in India are Ranthambore, Bandavgarh, Panna and a few others. Reports of tigers being extinct though are fairly common and I remember a park where recently they didn't count any tiger anymore. People in some countries just can not handle things with animals, because they decide to multiply like rabbits and compete for area with tigers and other animals.
There is also a park (sorry, forgot the name, this advice is purely by head) where you can see the only Asian lions (Gil park or something).

In Assam, there should be better chances to visit rhinos and elephants, like Kaziranga. Hop over to Nepal if you can for Royal Chitwan.

In Malaysia, some examples include bako NP on sarawak (for types of monkeys) and from sandakan on sabah you can go for trips along the Kinabatangan river searching for elephants and orang utans.
Danum Valley is a good choice as well and if you like to rough it, there is Maliau Basin in the centre of Sabah. Maybe Tabin Wildlife as well, also Sabah.

Some first advice. Hope you will have fun and be short to upload some great pics here on TP!;)

Michael.
