rubic has indicated that this thread is about Vietnam

Hi everyone,

I have a Chinese friend and I am planing a trip to China and Vietnam for our vacation next summer. We think that we could make a trip in China by ourselves through Beijing and Xichuan. But the rest od the trip in Vietnam I think It would be easier if we book tour from a travel company to save time, money and for safety. And my question is which tour operator is good enough to follow?

Once I traveled with -snip-

thanks for your help.

[ Edit: Stop promoting your tour company... ]

You really dont need to book anything in advance in Vietnam . You will pay a lot more through a travel agency .
In Vietnam you are spoiled for choice, when it comes to Tour operators, they are on every street corner in the tourist areas.Every guest house or Hotel you stay in, will most prob provide you with tours bus tickets Visas etc .
Just get your flight, some insurance, and plan where you want to visit . There are Open Tour buses to and from every major hot spot in Vietnam, They are very cheap and comfortable, and you can arrange for them to pick you up out side of where you are staying (you guest house will prob arrange it for you)

Hi, Rubic
You are right, because you can book a tour from travel agency for safe times and safety.
-snip-
travel yourself is also interesting if you find out carefully destinations before taking off. You can learn many many things yourself. I also have US friend, he came to Vietnam three times. the last trip took place in September 2009. We have a good time. He booked a tour for Halong bay from -snip- travel, it's excellent. otherwise, we have free time, I took him many excited places in Hanoi, enjoy local culture in Vietnam.
Maybe see you and your china friend around in Hanoi. By the way, I also speak a little Chinese.
send me message if you want any helps.

Thu Ha.

Hi rubic,

I traveled a fair amount of Vietnam without a tour company. As a lone female I did not worry about my safety at all, it is easy to get from place to place.

I was running out of time toward the end of my 8 weeks in SEA so I did the Mekong Delta with a tour group, I truly missed being able to make my own choice but I got to see alot in a few days without having to think all the time.

I would suggest you not book anything until you see just how easy it is to do it yourself. Then as said above there are plenty of tour shops to choose from if you change your mind.

As for trip report, there is a link to my blog in my profile. Once on the blog scroll down to the Vietnam Link.

Enjoy your trip.
