Johannesburg Airport hotel

Hi there,

I will be arriving late at night and need a hotel near the airport. There are a couple at the airport itself, but they are extremely expensive.
Does anyone have a better idea, just within a 5 or 10 minutes radius from the airport. I have my own car.

You can Stay in "Airport Game Lodge - Kempton Park"

The Lodge is ideally located for business and leisure travelers passing through Johannesburg and its airport.They offer a large variety of amenities for a comfortable and enjoyable stay, including a free airport shuttle.

We stayed in Pretoria--about 40 minutes away. Lots of reasonable places there, although you seem to need something closer to the city. Might be an option!

BTW, we landed in Johannesburg late evening and spent over 2 HOURS getting through customs--and we were just 1 dang plane. Bring a snack!

There are several hotels outside the actual perimeter of the airport itself. A really crappy but cheap one are the Formula 1s complete with public service announcements in the hallways against child prostitution and AIDS. Hmmm...I've only stayed in the one in Nelspruit, but there is one just outside the airport. Super Cheap though. What direction are you heading in first?

Hopefully customs won't be too bad, however it was worse than usual our last two trips...world cup preparations. you will not recognize the airport at all! but be prepared to carry everything, when we got out last december, there were no luggage carts and we had four of the heaviest bags full of gifts for the holidays!
