You could also go to Pattaya! This will give you a beach setting for daytime and party time in the evenings! Most hotels will be cheaper than Bangkok even during this holiday period. Transportation is only 10 baht.

Up to you.

I vote with Albert, go to Pattaya for the party. Fireworks over the bay, thousands of revelers from all over the world in a party mood. Thousands of ladies, boys or ladyboys eager to make your acquaitance! Hotels are generally cheaper in Pattaya than BKK as well. Here is one of the many videos of Pattaya New Year's Eve. Google 'new year's eve pattaya' and see if this is your cup of tea. Good luck with your planning.

Sounds good mate, thanks for info, going to look into that. Any hotel/hostel recommendations in Pattaya??
Was going to give the Full moon party a miss as it just seems such a attraction for thieves and not up for that on my second day!!

Thanks again!!!

How much do you want to spend on a hotel room? New Years holiday will be have the hotels at high season pricing. Basic hotels with air, hw, tv and private toilet will probably be around 600 to 900 baht. Summer rates quite a bit less - this is the same for Bangkok and Phuket too. There are some fan rooms that still may be available at lower prices.

Bus from Ekamai bus station is around 120 baht for the 2 hour ride. Get a hotel that is on or near Pattaya 2nd Road. Several sois lead off that road have lower priced hotel rooms. Everyone has their particular area that they like to stay at, I like the Soi Honey Inn area (Soi 10,) other people choose places near Soi 8. Soi Buakhaw has rooms at good prices. Easy walk to the beach area.

Some hotels in Bangkok, Pattaya and Phuket have surcharges for holiday parties.

Summer months the hotels are much cheaper.

Good luck.

Mitch,
I would try for the Apex Hotel. Nothing special, but decent room at a decent price. Very popular buffet, OK pool, right on the baht bus route. You can walk to many bars or the beach in minutes.
