Hi, i am going back to Vietnam hopefully within the next month, i hope to teach English their .
Can anybody provide me with a decent link for a TEFL course ?

I want to do a 4 week course, in class teaching . Ive heard online certificates are not worth the paper they are written on, so i want to do a proper course, practical hands on training .

If you have done a course in Vietnam and was happy with it, could you please give me a phone number, or web link so i can contact them .There seems to be so many courses out there , some i hear not as good as others, so i want my money to be spent well .

Any advice would be great !

Thanks ..

Most people highly recommend ILA. It may be a bit pricey compared to other places (I haven't seen prices of late to compare, but have heard thus), but good quality and lots of practical training and teaching practice. Not to mention they like to hire their trainees. Visit here for more details: http://www.ilavietnam.com/web/index.php

Thanks Chinh ! i will take a look .

I was looking at this Australian course http://www.hjconsultancysaigon.com/
They seem to be about $200 cheaper, and say they are 120 hours, but i dont think its a 4 week course i think they cram it all in within 2 weeks .

I have 2 months to complete a course and find a job .
Ive never done anything like this before so am a bit nervous about spending $1200 and not finding a job after it .

The course is in Binh Tanh, do you know of any cheap rooms in that area i can rent ?
It seems a distance from district 1, so is gonna cost me more on transport, plus i`m not really a big fan of the Pham ngu lao area :)

Thanks again

Paul .

Hi Paul,

I have talked to the consultant in HJ. The course will start 23 Nov and end 8 Dec. You will study for 2,5 weeks. As soon as you finish the course, you will get the certificate. The school has the department of employment support. You dont worry about job after completing the course.

Also I have asked about accommodation. There is a hostel around the school. You have to pay 350.000 for a day equivalent to 19.44 USD. It is not cheap really when you use it for rest only. I suggest that girl ask for the foreign students who are sharing room together. Hoping we could find the reasonable room for you. If the room is far from the school, you could take a bus or hire a motorbike or even buy the second-one motorbike if you think to work here longer.

If you have any inquiry, dont forget to ask me.

Cheers,
Chính

Wow thanks a lot, I think i will do that course it seems ok and ive spoke to a guy in the past who done it .

I will prob stay in Pham Ngu Lao because its a lot cheaper, i looked on google earth and Binh Thanh does not seem that far from Pham Ngu Lao, maybe 3 KM ?? is this right ?. If its not so expensive getting to and from Pham Ngu Lao to Binh Tanh i will be ok.

Ive only got about $38 a day for my budget after i have paid for the course and my flights, visa etc, so cheap accom is what i need.

Thanks again

Paul .
