If you get a holiday visa and then want to apply for a working visa prior to your holiday, would the two applications conflict or affect your chances of getting the other? I ask b/c i am getting a holiday visa before my trip on Nov 3 and now am thinking of just getting a WHV.
How long does it take to get a WHV?
Hi, i don't know about the possible conflicts between the two visas, but it only took me 5 minutes to fill out the WHV visa form and got my acceptance email about 10 minutes after i'd completed and paid for it.
Hope this helps some...
You don't mention which country (this forum covers Aus & NZ, both of which have WHVs). However I notice previous forum threads in your profile that refer to Australia, so I'll presume Australia for this!
If you have already been granted an eVisitor or ETA (depending on which country you're from) for Australia, and then subsequently apply for a WHV, if the WHV is granted it would cancel out the eVisitor/ETA. It's probably also the case that an eVisitor or ETA could cancel out an earlier grant of a WHV.
When i got my whv it took about 2 weeks, but this was a few years ago. I also got an extension, as a tourist visa, a few weeks before my whv expired, it was 200 bucks to renew, and you needed to show that you had money in the bank, and write a short letter saying you would not work or go to school. You can get a non working visa extension while you are in the country but you need to get your whv before you get there...australia that is.
It would be for Australia. That sounds like it would make sense though (if you get a WHV your tourist visa would get cancelled out). Well, i sent out my application for the tourist visa and got an acceptance confirmation within an hour, that was fast! So, i'm hoping that if i decide last minute to get a WHV i will get it just as quickly
