Thailand in April

Travel Forums Asia Thailand in April

Might go to Thailand for 2 weeks in mid-April. Will stay a few days in Bangkok (have a friend living there), might go to Koh Samui, have never been there but from what I hear it's still quite beautiful and you should be able to get away from the (other ;)) tourists! Any ideas of where to go on koh Samui or elsewhere.

So far I've visited Koh Samet twice and might want to try another island (maybe Koh Chang??)

I'm not looking for parties, just some relaxation and peace!

any advice

Hi Sole,

Well, if you are looking for peace and to get away from tourists I don't think Ko Samui is the place to be. Because of what I heard regarding that I stuck away from it and went to Ko Pha Ngan instead. Very nice and still quite relaxed....although if you want to stay away from parties Haad Riin beach might not be the place to be. One of islands I liked the best for quiet and relaxation was Ko Phi Phi. And if you like diving this island is the best choice too. Definitely a lot quieter than its two bigger brothers (or sisters )!

Hi Sam,

Thanks for your advice. I have been thinking of Phi Phi myself, but rumours go that it's not as peaceful as it used to be since they shot "the Beach"??

I think that I might opt for Koh Chang before it gets all run over by charter tourism. I'll let you know what happens, as it is I might not even be able to go, won't know until later this week.

have a nice day

Sole

Hi Sole,

Just found an interesting site on Thailand which might help with your search for information on Thailand...

-See our links page on Khao San Road-

Nice plug to us on the first page too

Cheers,

Sam

[ Edit: Pete won't let me put websites up in the forum anymore :) ]

Hi Sam,

Thanks for the link, I already know that webpage but haven't visited recently, so it was fun going there again, it has changed quite a bit.... I have soooo many links on Thailand and so many ideas of what to do, it's just a question of choosing and of course also getting some first hand information from other people... that's the most valuable information!!

Thanks again for the info

News: as it seems now, I will be going in April but now I have a choice of either Thailand or the Philippines AND I'll have to decide within a couple of hourse. Very exciting as a lot of the trip will be paid for.

Thanks for your replies, Sam..

Cheers

Ok, now I am jealous.... wish I got these trips paid for :) What a hard choice to make, travel to one country or travel to another.....hmmmmm, wish life was full of those choices!

Enjoy Sam

well, Sam,

I earned this trip by doing some translation work. The flight will be paid for, how much else will be paid I'm still not sure, but I guess most of the stay apart from food will be paid for as well. It will be a trip mainly to relax. It will be my first time at a resort and I still don't know if I'll like it, but everybody tell me that it's absolutely fabulous.... Guess I could get used to it

I'm leaving on April 10th and will be back on April 26th so that gives me 2 weeks in the Philippines, just have to decide whether I want to travel a bit or stay at the same place. I'd like to spend a day in Manila as well.

cheers
Solvejg

[ Edit: Sorry, no website links in the forum please :) ]

Sorry,

wasn't aware that there is a rule against links! Won't happen again!!

cheers

No problem Solvejg.. I have only started making a point of deleting links.. The rationale is that if we allow some links, then the forum will soon be an ideal target for spammers - people only here to promote their own site! Of course, this would be detrimental to the use of the site, so wouldn't help anyone. I am thinking of ways of letting links be possible though (possibly a reward for posting over 50 posts or something).

Cheers,
Peter
