Travel Forums Asia Recommended Tour Company for Pakistan

footsteps has indicated that this thread is about Pakistan

I (female 27) will be traveling to Pakistan alone this winter and would like to hook up with a tour group/company that can take care of all of the arrangements/itinerary while in Pakistan.

Does anyone know any reputable company they would recommend? Have you used them in the past? What was your experience?

Hi Footsteps...

Well depends where you want to go and for how long. Firstly i would advise the usual, travel advice from your embassy or government, medical insurance etc... Then if you are looking for travel to the Upper "Northern Areas of Pakistan" i would advise against this at the moment due to military operations.

However places such as Mansehra, Abbotabad, Hazara, Chitral and Hunza should be just fine. Major cities such as Lahore, Islamabad, Karachi etc.. are generally safe but one needs to keep their "situational awareness" on focus :D

Good Travel Companies are:

http://www.concordia-expeditions.com/

http://www.gerrys.com.pk/offer.html

http://www.adventurecenter.com.pk/

http://www.wildernesspakistan.org/ ( Good cheap tours for an annual membership and small fee).

In anycase you are very welcome to Pakistan. I would advise the usual safety stuff like jabs(injections), meds, insurnace, embassy advice etc...

Emergency Numbers (Hope you never need them) are:

1122 (Ambulance, Fire, Rescue) - Major Cities Only
15 ( Police Emergency) -pretty much everywhere
115 ( Volunteer Edhi Ambulance ) - not very good

List of Foreign Embassies in Islamabad and their contact numbers:

All the best and safe travels.

:)

Hi Footsteps,

Please find below two links about the tour operators in Pakistan. I have not used services of any of them but I assume they are good ones as they appear on Pakistan tourism official web site.

well most of Northern areas are totally safe except SWAT and Dir areas.

Group/Company depends on the nature of trip you require, as in winter most of the Northern Areas locations are totally covered with snow so most of the companies dosent/seldom operate during winter season until or unless some peckers contact them....

My best experience was with Adventure Tours however their charges are quite high, for more information about them (http://www.atp.com.pk/)

"Hunza Guides" and "Baltistan Tours" are also recommended but their expertise only belong to Northern ares..

We had been toying with the idea of an Pakistan sojourn for a couple of years based on reports from some classmates.

So in the spring of 2009, or in summer really, i began work on a 4 week trip which would include both South and Northern Pakistan and a return to thailand... so i thought i would include a few days at the end of the total trip at the peninsula in bangkok ....unfortunately the airline did not agree with my decision and i had to reschedule everything as no seats were available....more on this later..so we agreed on a August and early September timeframe...

I made contact with 3 Paksitan based outfitters to assist me--- Vertical Explorers Expeditions Treks & Tours with offices in southern and Northern Pakistan, was the first that caught my eye, ...they presented a very comprehensive proposal and together we worked with the basic concept they presented...along the way i also received a proposal from a Islamabad based agency Sitara Travels Tours based on our workmates experience with them and finally i received a proposal from Adventure Tours Pakistan...

so after a lot of back and forth i pretty much got each of the agents to the same exact trip and then we priced it out....Vertial Explorers came in as the cheapest, so immediately i thought that i could not possibly trust them....how could it be that much cheaper??
so then the "fun" began as i studied each proposal more closely...they were almost identical, except for some of the hotel choices....all of the hotels were however in roughly the same classification---i would call them 4 star rather than the 5 star ... hotels are the most expensive part of a trip to Pakistan i found....this turned me off quite honestly...

so after this exercise (this trip caused me the most planning grief ever), i selected Vertical Explorers as i could not see any differences in the final product....and here i will say that they scored a 100% rating....everything turned out perfectly...you will see....!!

There are a number of companies in Pakistan, all of them will provide you with almost the same itinerary, but prices vary from bigger operators to smaller ones. Just make a note that some do have good testimonials and even would ask previous clients to quote on their behalf for you. This some include Pamir Tours which happens to have a staff that communicate well, lets you know where to go and where not. And they respond very quickly. So explore others too.

Just make clear to them what sort of travel you want, south pakistan is more cultural and northern Pakistan (Hunza,Gilgit,Skardu etc.) is more like an adventurers heaven with peaks pointing more that 7000meters into the sky.

Anyway, glad to help
