I am trying to decide where to stay for my first week in Sydney. Can anyone help me out with some info on Glebe? Is it anyway central, and would you reccomend it??
Thanks

I've heard Glebe is quite nice. From what I gather it's slightly quiter than central Sydney.

I was thinking of staying there myself. Does anybody know of any good hostels in the Glebe area??

Although not right in the CBD, Glebe is very central and you can walk to a lot of places from there. It's population is a mixture of students, yuppies, and some housing commission people so there's a very slight rough element to it.

A friend of mine bought a place there recently and he says it's "up and coming but rough around the edges".

There are a lot of very cheap restaurants there.

yes, glebe is nice!! i´d recomend it.
on saturdays they have nice little markets, its a short walk to Sydney University, theres a whole lot of cute cafes and Good thai resuarants, wonderful little bookstores, and affordable alternative clothe stores. its close to Broadway, and there are heaps of buses you can take to get you pretty much anywhere.

gleebe is a top spot,
really good food and pubs and it really quite central just a short walk over the piermont bridge to darling habour, and at the end of gleebe pt road is central station.
it has a bohemian sort of flavour and make sure you get to the market on sundays and the movies at the valhalla,
i stayed there for 6mths and really enjoyed it
hope you do to.
