I have a friend who lives their with his wife. They have the Jumanjy bar in Thong Sala...it's possibly the best place in town to find out what is happening and where...he has a page on Facebook (his name is Tristan)...he is a DJ, and often hosts his own parties. But he will be able to tell you what's happening and where.

Last time I went I stayed in a small hotel resort just outside Thong Sala towards the East. But another time, I will head West...as it has plenty of action, parties...but has a different ethos to those places on the East coast. If you are young and want to drink and party hard...head East immediately...there are masses of accommodation options to choose from. You might be advised to get there about 3-4days before a full moon to ensure you get a bed!

Don't and I repeat, don't get sucked into the buy accommodation on the boat on the way over. They are scare mongers, they will tell you stories that the place is booked solid, they will sell you a three night deal in accommodation that is riddles with fleas, wet mattresses etc. and will take you there...you will be isolated and feel really let down.

Get to the island...find a ride (open backed taxi...pay about 50-75 baht to the East of the island) and you'll be right.

If you want to stay near the party area, then you have to be in the southwest of the island, haad rin. I suggest you stay in Cozy Resort 400 baht a night, pretty neat, just 3 minutes walk to the beach party.

Will be going too but only staying for a night!

Have fun!
