Just wondering if any of you know anyone who has got a working holiday visa for Canada with a drink driving conviction? Seemingly they class drink driving as a criminal offence there and will decline the visa application.......my friend had to withdraw his application as he got arrested for drink driving, it looks like he wont get convicted now but he has been told that even if its on his record that he got arrested he still will get denied the visa???
Has anyone any experience of this at all please?! He wants to apply for the 2010 visa now as he withdrew his 2009 one.
Thanks a mill
For the short time you would be here I'd file the appropriate papers saying nothing about the drunk driving conviction,if you do mention it its almost certain you will be denied entry if you dont mention it they may not check and you'll probably be allowed in,you have nothing to lose by omitting the conviction. If you were emmigrating here it would not be to your advantage to omit the offence as you would be continually be open to deportation if the truth comes out.
A lot of customs and border related officers have been trained to read body language so if any official in the process asks you if you've ever been arrested dont break eye contact or blink

Canadian authorities have no access to Irish records so answer NO and don't worry.
