cigarette lobbies on madmen and californication

I dont know if you watch the series I mentioned but I do and love both of them. On the other hand, I sense that cigarette lobbies pay huge monney to writers and art director to shoot smoking scenes as much as possible.

There's no doubt about it!

I do doubt it. I could see a product placement possibility. But a general lobby payoff?

I think the point is to show how decadent and selfdestructive the characters are. Not something the lobby would want to back.
