Hey, I'm planning a 2-3 month trip out to India mid-next year and was hoping someone could give me a rough idea as to how much needs to set aside for accomodation, cross country travel etc. Im planning on taking a rough loop around North/Central India, any ideas ?

Cheers =) x

Hi,

20 USD a day (food, public transport, accomodation...) would do it if you spend wisely, 25 allows for little luxuries, and 30 would do it for sure. Some parts are more expensive than others, of course - like Bombay and less so Delhi, but overall planning for 25 dollars or 30 a day would be a good estimate.

Id set aside also a pot of maybe 2 to 3 hundred dollars for the train tickets (they're not actually that expensive if you manage to not get ripped off by some travel agents...), admission prices - which can sometimes add up to quite a bit, or additional splurges like going on a camel safari etc...

Hi I hope you doing fine. You only need the cost for accomodation or plus for transport and visiting parks and major attractions?

In India one can have a meal at McDonald in 4US$. Even less than this if you have a strong stomach and digest hot street food which you can have for $2 a meal. A five star meal would be about 20$ per person.
For staying $ 30 per day is enough for guest houses near Railway Stations.
Avg fare by air is around UD$80 for a single trip.
I hope this is sufficient to work out your guestimate.
In India touts and street urchins bother a lot,don't pay any attention to them. Train reservations for overnight trips is difficult .
