Will be traveling in Europe this winter. That means I will be away from Canada during the winter Olympics. And for a Canadian hockey nut. that’s going to be Hard..
The question I have is what country would be the best / fun to watch the Olympics in.
any input would be appreciated ..
If your goal is to watch all the games of the Canadian hockey team I would try to figure out the dates the hockey games are. Then I would look online for TV coverage - do the Czech or the Austrians cover the final hockey game?
In terms of enthusiasm for hockey I would say that the countries are about equal. If it helps you make a decision consider that Czech R. will be the cheapest and Switzerland the most expensive option of the three.
What about Sweden? There are a lot of hockey fans there, as far as hockey fans in Europe go. They would probably cover at least the gold metal game- they may even be in the gold metal game (though hopefully the other team will be Canada ), as well as other games. Coverage would probably be the best there.
Go Canada Go!
Oh, I just thought of something . . . As an alternative, you could find a hotel with satellite and watch the Canadian coverage on one of the CTV stations. It might be a little expensive, but if you're such a big fan, it'll probably be worth it.
Well, good luck.
I watched a WInter Olympics in the Czech Republic and the Czechs were just as interested in how Canada was doing as I was. That said, I like hockey. I am not a hockey nut.
Hockey will most definitely be on everywhere in Czech....COme to think of it, You hang out in Murphy's Law in Salzburg, you'll find a group of hockey lovers too
You have nothing to worry about. It's Europe, man. They love hockey too.
Thanks to you all for your feedback.. My girl friend and I were in Prague last year for a few days. I’m hoping to find a place were people enjoy friendly competition and could watch the hockey games together and not worry about any stupid football kind of hooligans..
